Hechi's environmental achievements: Air, water quality soar in 2024
Summer is the perfect time to take a leisurely stroll along the Longjiang River at night and enjoy the cool breeze as insects chirp in the distance. The picturesque scenery, excellent water quality, and fresh air are all part of Hechi's unique charm.
From January to May this year, the air quality in the central urban area of Hechi (Jinchengjiang district) was rated excellent on 150 of 152 days, marking a 2.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
The average concentration of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) was 26.01 micrograms per cubic meter, also an improvement from the previous year. The air environmental quality in the urban areas of the other 10 counties and districts has consistently met the national Grade II standard.
In the first quarter, the water quality compliance rate of all 24 national and regional controlled sections in the city reached 100 percent, with 12 national controlled sections meeting Grade II standard or higher.
According to the data released by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment on the surface water quality from January to March nationwide, Hechi ranks 14th in the country. The compliance rate of water quality in four municipal centralized drinking water sources and 17 county-level centralized drinking water sources reached 100 percent.
