Hechi takes lead in village greening in Guangxi
The monitoring results of the village greening coverage rate of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region in 2023 were recently announced. The rate in Hechi reached 48.19 percent in 2023, exceeding the overall region rate by 6.99 percent, an increase of 0.08 percent from the previous year.
This marks the seventh year in a row that Hechi has ranked first in the region since it began monitoring this indicator in 2017.
Comprehensive monitoring of the village greening coverage rate across the region was conducted using high-resolution aerial remote sensing image interpretation and partial field investigations. The four counties of Tian'e, Fengshan, Dahua, and Donglan in Hechi ranked among the top 10 in the region.
In 2023, the city completed 382,900 mu (25,527 hectares) of afforestation, with 6.53 million trees planted under the national voluntary tree-planting program and nurturing of 4.03 million mu of forest. Nine village greening landscape enhancement projects were completed, with 2,766 trees planted.
The goal of planting 200 precious tree species was completed, with 4,032 precious tree species, such as the Ginkgo, Chinese juniper, Chinese yew, and large-leaved katsura planted.
In 2024, the city completed 268,500 mu of afforestation, with 6.08 million trees planted under the national volunteer tree-planting program and nurturing of 1.98 million mu of young and middle-aged forest by the end of May.
