Exchange event showcases Hechi's Maonan culture in GBA
Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county organized participation in an intangible cultural heritage (ICH) exchange and exhibition event, local media outlets reported on May 21.
During the event, Huanjiang showcased the unique Maonan ethnic floral bamboo hats, the enigmatic Nuo dance, the Maonan Opera, and the vivid Miao reed pipe dance to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The aim was to help more people understand the unique ethnic customs and ICH of the Maonan people and to promote the development of cultural tourism-related industries in Huanjiang.
The event brought together various ICH projects from seven areas, including Shenzhen Bao'an and its counterpart cooperation regions such as Longchuan, Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone, Chenghai district, Chaonan district, Dahua Yao autonomous county, Du'an Yao autonomous county, and Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county.
The participants used different forms, such as photo exhibitions, physical displays, markets, and flash performances, to transcend geographical, linguistic, and customary boundaries and to inject new vitality into the joint development and prosperity of cultures in various regions.
