The 2024 United Nations (UN) Chinese Language Day in Vienna opened on May 6. The longevity, bronze drum, and Liu Sanjie folk song cultures from Hechi were showcased at the event.

During the event, Hechi's bronze drum culture, Liu Sanjie folk song culture, and other ethnic cultures were shared through artistic performances, specialty product exhibitions, and other activities, attracting much attention from guests from various countries.

Hechi is world-renowned as a place of longevity, being China's first prefecture-level city with the title of World Longevity City. Bama International Longevity Health Resort is one of Guangxi's three major international tourist destinations, boasting a unique natural environment and one of the highest concentrations of ethnic minorities in Guangxi.

The city is the hometown of the legendary Liu Sanjie, known as the "Song Fairy of Zhuang Ethnic Group," and its ethnic minority cultures have deep roots and distinct regional characteristics.

Hechi is also famous for its folk song culture, with the most inherited bronze drums in the world. In 2023, it was designated as a national-level Bronze Drum Culture (Hechi) Ecological Protection Area. There are over 1,400 inherited bronze drums in the area, which has a well-maintained tradition of preservation.

There are currently 13 national-level intangible cultural heritage representative items in the town, including Liu Sanjie folk songs, Zhuang bronze drum customs, the Mulao Yifan Festival, the Zhuang Maguai Festival, bamboo weaving (Maonan flower bamboo hat weaving technique), and Yao ethnic costumes.
