Hechi makes new steps in economic development
Hechi made substantial economic strides throughout 2023 and has now outlined ambitious plans for further advancement in 2024.
In 2023, enterprises in Hechi Industrial Park realized an operating income of 21.11 billion yuan ($2.93 billion), up 21.83 percent year on year, and a total industrial output value of 9.1 billion yuan, up 27.58 percent yearly.
Yizhou, one of the districts of Hechi, demonstrated great energy in its sericulture. The 2023 total output value of the mulberry silk industrial chain in Yizhou reached 10.23 billion yuan.
Hechi experienced a surge in its tourism industry. During the 2024 Spring Festival holiday, the city welcomed a total of 6,530,100 tourists, marking an 80.6 percent increase compared to the previous year. Tourism consumption also saw a substantial rise, reaching 3.99 billion yuan, a 351.5 percent increase year-on-year.
Hechi will take further development measures in 2024. Yizhou plans to complete the transformation of significant scientific and technological achievements and support the development of high-tech enterprises.
Yizhou places significant emphasis on the development of sericulture. There are plans to promote large-scale intensive sericulture, aiming to upgrade 80,000 mu (5,333 hectares) of low-yield mulberry plantations to produce 100,000 metric tons of cocoons.
Additionally, efforts will be made to advance the renovation of specific areas, with an investment of 50 million yuan to expedite the construction of sewage treatment systems.
To enhance local education, Yizhou plans to expand the number of schools by granting over 3,500 degrees, hiring 69 new staff members, and bolstering the professional competence of teachers.
