Hechi achieves 12% growth in export in 2023
Hechi achieved rapid growth in foreign trade in 2023, with total import and export value reaching 4.97 billion yuan ($710 million). The total value of exports reached 2.21 billion yuan, achieving 12 percent growth.
The city has been pushing the customs clearance reform for containerized iron ore products, saving over 2.9 million yuan in transportation for enterprises and boosting processing trade, particularly in silver exports, which saw a substantial 68.6 percent year-on-year increase to 820 million yuan.
It also supported agricultural industries, helping five meat processing companies and one poultry farm obtain qualifications for exporting their products. This has facilitated the outbound trade of agricultural products.
Additionally, it established a WeChat communication mechanism to provide real-time updates on foreign tariffs, technical barriers, and risk alerts, which supports enterprises in exports. This proactive approach has led to rapid growth in the export of 784.9 metric tons of frozen silkworm pupae, valued at 100 million yuan, a 17.5 percent increase compared to last year.
