Hechi witnesses dramatic revival in tourism, cultural sectors in 2023
Hechi is projected to receive 50.12 million visitors from home and abroad in 2023, marking a 67.55 percent year-on-year increase. The total tourism income is expected to surpass 52.78 billion yuan ($7.5 billion), a 48.22 percent year-on-year growth.
Over the past year, the city has achieved breakthroughs in creating cultural and tourism brands, establishing 40 cultural and tourism brands at Guangxi Zhuang autonomous regional level or above. Notably, the Bronze Drum Cultural (Hechi) Protection Experimental Zone has become the only national-level cultural ecological protection zone in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. Additionally, Bama Yao autonomous county has been selected as one of the first national pilot areas for empowering cultural industries in rural vitalization.
Furthermore, major festivals, forums, and sports events were successfully held, including the first national student sports mountain bike event, the 2023 China-ASEAN International Forum on Traditional Medicine and Health Tourism, the 11th Guangxi Culture and Art Gala, and the 21st Hechi Bronze Drum & Folk Song Art Festival.
