Luocheng progresses in ecological conservation
Luocheng Mulam autonomous county in Hechi, has pursued extensive efforts to enhance ecological conservation in recent years. As a result of these endeavors, the urban area's ambient air quality reached 98.9 percent excellent last year, which is the highest recorded since monitoring data became available.
The region's forestation achieved evident progress, with a total area of 45,300 mu (3,020 hectares) reforested and over 600,000 trees planted, fulfilling the annual tree-planting task. Additionally, six villages and towns underwent a green transformation, beautifying 26 kilometers of main roads.
The county's forest area has reached 186,000 mu, with a forest coverage rate of 71.44 percent. The water quality of the Wuyang and Dongxiao rivers attained a perfect rate of 100 percent.
To combat forest fires, Luocheng established a management system. With a 2-million-yuan ($285,714) investment, Luocheng became the first in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region to achieve real-time monitoring and early warning, successfully preventing forest fires in 2023.
In 2023, the average concentration of PM2.5 in the urban area of the county's ambient air quality was 26.1 micrograms per cubic meter.
By focusing on targeted and scientific pollution control measures, the county has also made continuous progress in addressing air, water, and soil pollution, including industrial pollution control, dust pollution control, urban and rural sewage treatment, clean transportation upgrades, and environmental law enforcement.
