Donglan develops special sectors, spurs rural vitalization

Baochou town in Donglan county has been actively developing eco-fish farming, as well as yellow cattle and black pig rearing in recent years.

It's also been quail farming, beekeeping and developing other specialist industries, contributing to the overall increase in the prosperity of its residents.

The Baying River fish is a special product of Baochou town. The Luji Aquaculture Demonstration Base in Banjia village there uses a river water breeding plus modern technology model, achieving efficient and eco-friendly fish farming and expanding the profitability of aquaculture.

With is lush forests and abundant grass, surrounded by green hills, the Longwangpo area in the county is an ideal base for raising cattle and sheep. The meat of the yellow cattle in Longwangpo is delicious and has always been favored by the market. Currently, there are over 200 head of yellow cattle and over 1,000 goats on the mountain, with a total value exceeding 4 million yuan ($552,338).

In addition to raising beef cattle, yellow cattle and black goats, two locals named Ya Houmeng and Ya Hanhua have jointly established an ecological agricultural cooperative, specializing in free-range black pigs. In their inventory, there are currently 120 black pigs, worth more than 100,000 yuan ($13,811).

In July of this year, an efficient quail farming demonstration base in Baochou town began operating. In just three months, it raised 100,000 quails and produced 28,000 kilograms of eggs, generating revenue of 448,000 yuan.

The town has also developed the honey industry in Pobai village by leveraging its eco-friendly advantages. At the moment, the village is home to 300 beehives and the annual output value of the honey has reached over 100,000 yuan.

"Special industries are important supports for promoting rural vitalization," said Wei Defu, Party chief of Bachou town.

"Next, we will fully leverage our resources and continue to develop special industries, promoting collectives and farmers incomes and advancing our rural revitalization," Wei added.
