Luocheng Mulam autonomous county in Hechi hosted the 5th Guangxi Rice and Fish Harvest Festival on Oct 19, in Shuangmeng village, Xiaochang'an town.

Established in 2019, the Guangxi Rice and Fish Harvest Festival is the first festival in Guangxi dedicated to celebrating the harvest from the integrated farming of rice and fish.

The rice and fish industry is one of the important industries in Hechi. Since 2017, the city's integrated rice and fish farming area has exceeded 100,000 mu, achieving an added value of 80 million yuan. The city has also improved the utilization rate of its paddy fields.

The Mulam Daoxiang Pastoral Complex, developed in Luocheng, is the largest core demonstration area for integrated rice and shrimp farming in the city, covering an area of over 3,000 mu. It is estimated to have an annual output value of 60 million yuan, and has integrated the circular economy of its agriculture and fishery industries.

During the festival, a series of activities were held, including agricultural product exhibitions, traditional sports competitions, and folk cultural performances. Numerous experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs also gathered to discuss the development trends and market prospects of the rice and fish industry.
