Yizhou Sanghai Siyuan Pastoral Complex perfects silk industry chain
In recent years, Hechi, the largest silk-producing area in Guangxi, has been shaping mulberry silk industrial chain as a way to boost rural vitalization and promote high-quality economic development. The Yizhou Sanghai Siyuan Pastoral Complex is an important part of these efforts.
Located in the southern part of Desheng town, Yizhou district, the complex covers a planned area of approximately 9,436 mu (629 hectares), including the villages of Shangping, Xinhui, and Lengdi.
There is a total of 21,000 mu of mulberry fields in the project area with an annual silk production of 716 metric tons, generating an income of 35.95 million yuan ($4.92 million).
Relying on the mulberry silk industry, the project area makes full use of mulberry silk resources to develop by-products of sericulture, such as silkworm organic fertilizer, edible fungi, mulberry wine, and mulberry leaf tea. This forms a complete industrial chain and creates an ecologically circular farming model.
In order to promote the construction of green mulberry plantations, the project is making efforts to introduce advanced agricultural infrastructure and superior mulberry tree varieties.
Meanwhile, the complex integrates rural customs experience, sports expansion, leisure entertainment, and rural homestays to develop the rural tourism industry.
The total planned investment in the complex is 176 million yuan, with 51 sub-projects. The construction period will last from 2022 to 2024. To date, 30 sub-projects have been completed with an investment of 130 million yuan.
