Mangchang town is the main rice-producing area in Nandan county, and Baping rice has a good reputation, as it consistently sells well in the market.

In 2023, the total area of medium-grain rice cultivation in Nandan county reached 129,000 mu (8,600 hectares), an increase of 4,700 mu compared to the previous year. This showed a growth rate of 3.79 percent. The total expected yield this year is projected to reach 55,660 metric tons, an increase of 1,770 tons compared to the previous year, indicating a growth rate of 3.28 percent.
