The 2023 Hechi Green Development Seminar was held on Sept 18 in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, during the ongoing 20th China-ASEAN Expo.
Hechi is an important ecological barrier with a forest coverage rate of 71.57 percent, ranking top in Guangxi. The air quality in its urban area is excellent, with a ratio of good air quality days reaching 98.6 percent, also ranking first in Guangxi.
Hechi has rich green energy resources, with over 40 percent of the water from the Pearl River flowing through the city. Its water energy resources account for over 60 percent of Guangxi's total, with 152 large, medium, and small hydropower stations in the vicinity. The city's annual electricity generation amounts to 27 billion kilowatt-hours, making a significant contribution to carbon reduction efforts.
With an average annual solar radiation of 4,275.2 megajoules per square meter, Hechi is classified as having "abundant resources" in terms of solar energy.
Qin Chuncheng, Party cheif of Hechi city, said that Hechi will strive to build a pilot zone for green development and take advantage of the newly-opened Guiyang-Nanning High-Speed Railway. An efficient, clean, low-carbon, and circular green economic system will also be constructed, boosting Hechi's high-quality development.
Wang Jun, mayor of Hechi, expressed that the city's ecology has become its competitive advantage for development. He sincerely invited experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs to visit Hechi in the hopes that they will offer suggestions on Hechi's green development and invest in the city.
