Nandan innovates agricultural development models

In recent years, Hechi's Nandan county has regarded the development of characteristic agriculture as vital in achieving rural vitalization. Due to this, it has launched a series of development models that integrate agriculture, tourism, industry, and culture.

The county has fully tapped into its agricultural tourism resources, and has connected its 10 core scenic spots and 10 rural comprehensive complexes. This formed a new pattern that accelerated the development of holistic tourism.

By leveraging its unique fruit, tea, and rice industries, the county has diversified its tourism offerings to now include sightseeing, fruit-picking, and agricultural experiences.

Meanwhile, a series of rural leisure tourism events have been held to further enhance the visibility and influence of the county's rural tourism sector. These events include the Tea Culture Festival, Rapeseed Flower Festival, Lotus Festival, Plum Blossom Festival, and Harvest Festival.

In the first half of this year, the county received 2.6 million tourists who engaged in leisure agriculture and rural tourism activities. They brought in a total tourism consumption revenue of 2.5 billion yuan ($347 million).

Nandan has implemented a number of deep processing projects for agricultural and sideline products, thus forming an agricultural product processing industrial pattern. This pattern is dominated by grain, oil tea, tea, and beef processing.

The introduction of Guangxi Zhengxin Group into the county has led to the creation of a 10-billion-yuan oil tea industry park. This park features oil tea plantations that span 45,000 mu (3,000 hectares) and a tea oil extraction production line.

Simultaneously, Nandan oversaw the implementation of a 10,000-mu standardized green rice paddy base by Nandan Xingnong Technology. The standardized cultivation base covers an area of 40,500 mu, with an annual output of 16,000 metric tons. This yield has an estimated value of 120 million yuan.
