Du'an holds Zhuzhu Festival celebrations

On July 12, Du'an Yao autonomous county began celebrating the 2023 Zhuzhu Festival in the beautiful Miluotuo Culture Park, attracting crowds of people from various ethnic groups.

Known as the New Year for the Yao ethnic group, the Zhuzhu Festival is an annual folk event that is held on the 29th day of the fifth lunar month. It celebrates the harvest and also commemorates Miluotuo, a legendary figure of Yao ethnic group.

Du'an is the birthplace of the Miluotuo culture, as well as the region with the most Miluotuo culture inheritors. On May 23, 2011, Miluotuo was included in the third batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.

In recent years, Du'an has experienced rapid development. Products such as beef, goat, and wild grape wine have been sold to many cities across the country, bringing tangible benefits to the locals, thanks to the internet and modern logistics.

On the day of the festival, the event's special agricultural products exhibition area showcased a wide range of agricultural products. Various grains, eggs, cured meat, and specialty rice noodles captured the attention of attendees.

To celebrate the Zhuzhu Festival, residents also organized unique traditional ethnic activities, such as spinning tops and cockfighting, adding a enhancing the festival’s exciting atmosphere.
