Hechi develops high-quality herbal medicines
In April, all kinds of Chinese herbal medicines are growing well in Donglan county, where is home to 3,000 mu (200 hectares) of Chinese herbal medicine cultivation demonstration bases. The processing and production of Chinese herbal medicines will promote the high-quality development of the pharmaceutical industry in Hechi.
Hechi is rich in medicinal materials plucked from the wild, with more than 1,800 kinds of medicinal resources available, accounting for about 23 percent of the total in Guangxi.
In recent years, the city has exploited the advantages of Chinese herbal medicine cultivation, promoted the layout of the Chinese herbal medicine industry, and built a series of dedicated industrial parks.
To date, Hechi has built 56 Chinese herbal medicine production bases and cultivated 68 varieties of Chinese herbal medicines. The planting area is 448,600 mu (29,007 hectares), with an output of 62,000 metric tons and an output value of 830 million yuan ($120.5 million).
In addition, the city has been optimizing and adjusting the development direction of the biomedical industry, as well as strengthening and deepening the industrial chain. The medical industry has shown an innovative development trend.
The Daren Industrial Park Pharmaceutical Industrial Park project is Hechi's key measure to promote the development of the pharmaceutical industry by organizing an industrial cluster. After it is completed, the project is expected to achieve an annual output value of over 30 billion yuan.
