According to the second National Self Driving Club Conference and Hunan Self-Driving Tour Development Conference recently held in Yongzhou, Hunan province, the Cotton Tiankeng Scenic Area in Luocheng Mulam autonomous county was selected as one of the most popular self-driving tour destinations in China in 2022.

In recent years, this scenic area has invested more than 5 million yuan ($0.7 million) to build a camping area for motorists spanning over 50 mu (3 hectares), with more than 170 separate campsites now set up there. At one of the sites, there are 30 tents spread over 1,000 square meters. Another that is dedicated to private motorists covers 5,000 sq m and can accommodate 120 vehicles at any given time.

The latter site is built near the mountain. With a beautiful environment, rich Mulam folk customs and comprehensive facilities, it can meet the various needs of self-driving tourists and camping enthusiasts.

Luocheng Cotton Tiankeng Scenic Area receives about 300,000 tourists a year, mainly from Hechi and Nanning, Guilin, Liuzhou, and other places in Guangxi. Many tourists also come from Guangdong, Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, and other provinces. Self-driving tourists and camping enthusiasts account for about 8 percent of the total. Since its launch, the campsite for motorists has welcomed over 100,000 self-driving tourists.
