Hechi accelerates layout of new energy industry
Hechi is accelerating the layout of its new energy industry, striving to promote the construction of a number of major new energy projects to promote the high-quality development of its industrial economy.
With the acceleration of these projects, which focus on new materials, wind power, and pumped storage, related enterprises have been reassured. "Our new energy industry cluster has taken shape," said Wei Haoxiang, deputy director of the management committee of Hechi Economic and Technological Development Zone.
As of the end of 2022, eight battery industry chain companies have settled into the industrial park, which employ more than 5,000 people, and have a total revenue of more than 4 billion yuan ($582 million).
Hechi's existing installed energy capacity exceeds 9.18 million kilowatts, and its total installed capacity and annual power generation rank highly among other prefecture-level cities. As the green development pilot zone in Guangxi and the hometown of China's hydropower, the city is now exploring new mechanisms and technological innovations.
During the 19th China-ASEAN Expo and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit, Hechi signed a cooperation agreement with Guangxi Guiguan Electric Power, a subsidiary of Datang Group, to promote the construction of a new energy industry chain in Hechi.
This project has a stable energy supply from the Longtan Hydropower Station, which has the advantages of being low cost and has a strong regulation capability. Once completed, the project will solve multiple industrial development problems, such as power supply and electricity pricing in Hechi. After it is completed, Hechi will become a highly competitive industrial investment base.
