On March 10, the catenary of the Guangxi section of the Guiyang-Nanning high-speed railway was connected in Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county. Progress is half a month ahead of schedule, laying the foundation for the railway's power transmission.
The catenary is an important part of the railway electrification project. The train is connected to the catenary conductor through the pantograph on the roof to obtain electrical energy and provide power for the train. It is the most important piece of equipment for the high-speed train's operation.
Since the beginning of February last year, 6,858 catenary poles and 814.37 kilometers of catenary conductors have been installed in the Guangxi section of the Guiyang-Nanning high-speed railway.
The Guiyang-Nanning high-speed railway starts from Guiyang, Guizhou in the north and ends in Nanning, Guangxi in the south. It is the first high-speed railway with a designed speed of 350 km per hour in Guangxi. The bridge, subgrade, tunnel and track laying work of the Guangxi section have already been completed, and five of the six new station buildings have been capped. The whole line is expected to be put into operation within the year, decreasing travel time from Nanning to Guiyang from more than 5 hours to about 2 hours.
