Hechi has been developing to become an ecological civilization city in recent years, by improving water, land and air quality.

In order to make the sky bluer, Hechi has implemented the air pollution prevention and control battle plan. All counties and districts in Hechi have been banned from using fireworks.

At the same time, Hechi has built a grid-based intelligent monitoring system for environmental hotspots and implemented environmental monitoring for the grid area. From January to November 2022, the city's ambient air quality was monitored, with 329 good days, an excellent rating of 98.5 percent.

To improve water quality, Hechi has strengthened the management of the city's centralized drinking water sources and the construction of a safety warning system for water sources. From January to November 2022, all 12 national surface water assessment sections in the city were at or better than Class III water quality.

To make the land greener, Hechi planted trees equivalent to 332,000 mu (22,133.33 hectares), and increased the forest coverage rate to 71.32 percent. The green coverage rate of villages in Hechi was 47.2 percent, ranking first in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

Hechi has carried out public activities, such as organizing representatives of the public as well as primary and secondary school students to visit the Jinchengjiang district sewage treatment plant so that public awareness increased. This helps to develop an ecological civilization city, as citizens are the main promoters and builders of this concept.
