On Dec 29, Nandan-Tian'e Expressway in Hechi city and the Tianlin-Xilin Expressway in Baise city were completed and opened to traffic. Xilin county and Tian'e county thus ended Guangxi's history of having no access to expressways.

All 111 counties, cities and districts in Guangxi now have access to expressways, and the mileage of expressways in the region exceeds 8,000 kilometers.

The construction of the Nandan-Tian'e Expressway commenced in December 2018 at Guanxi village, Bawei Yao township, Nandan county, and ended at Nongtang village, Xialao township, Tian'e county. The total length is about 104.9 km. The two-way four-lane expressway construction standard was adopted, and the design driving speed is 100 km per hour. The completion of the expressway ends the history of Tian'e county not being connected to an expressway, and smooths the traffic between Guangxi and Guizhou.

The Tianlin-Xilin Expressway is an expressway connecting Baise, Guangxi, and Qujing in Yunnan province. The total investment of the project is 27.37 billion yuan ($3.93 billion). The starting point is Lucheng township, Tianlin county, and the ending point is Mabeng township, Xilin county. The total length of the expressway is 191.2 km, and the design speed is 80 km per hour. The completion of the expressway ends the history of no access to expressways in Xilin county, shortens the driving time between Nanning and Kunming, and promotes economic development between Yunnan and Guangxi.

According to the Guangxi Expressway Network Planning (2018-2030), by the end of 2030 the total mileage of expressways in Guangxi will reach 15,200 km.
