On Dec 21, the Bama-Tiandong Expressway opened to traffic, becoming a convenient channel from Guangxi and Southwest China to ASEAN countries.

The Bama-Tiandong Expressway is an important part of the Bama-Pingxiang Highway in Guangxi's expressway network planning. The expressway connects Hechi, Baise and Chongzuo.

The total investment of the Bama-Tiandong Expressway is about 10.38 billion yuan ($1.48 billion). The main road of the route is about 66.6 kilometers long. It is a standard two-way four lane expressway, and the designated speed on the roadway is 100 km per hour. There are 67 bridges, eight tunnels, a 44.5 percent bridge-to-tunnel ratio, five interchanges, two service areas and three ramp toll stations.

After the opening to traffic of Bama-Tiandong Expressway, the driving time from Bama to Nanning is expected to be shortened by about an hour, which will help drive the economic and social development along the route, and is of great significance for accelerating the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, which should help the integration of transportation and tourism resources, as well as improve the emergency support capacity.
