Yizhou forest ecological services achieve remarkable results

Yizhou district of Hechi city, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, has been adhering to the concept of green development and accelerating the development of the forestry industry based on resource advantages. In recent years, its forestry ecological services has achieved remarkable results.

To date, the forest coverage rate of the district is 65.1 percent, its forest carbon stock is 8.53 million cubic meters, and the value of its forest ecological services reaches 16.03 billion yuan ($2.3 billion).

By optimizing and adjusting the structure of the forestry industry, the strength of the forest industry has been improved. There are 55 walnut demonstration bases with a total area of 25,500 mu (1,700 hecatres), 121 oil tea demonstration bases totalling 11,100 mu, and 27 modern characteristic forestry demonstration areas in Guangxi.

Yizhou has focused on introducing and cultivating forestry processing enterprises, giving preferential treatment to enterprises that extend the forestry industry chain, and improve the added value of forest products.

The district has also built a modern characteristic forestry demonstration area integrating oil tea cultivation and processing, underforest planting and animal raising, leisure tourism, as well as cultural tourism. The underforest area has reached 1.18 million mu, and the accumulated under forest economic output value has reached 3.4 billion yuan within 13th Five Year Plan period (2016-20).
