Danquan scenic area selected as national tourism demonstration
The Danquan Liquor Culture Scenic Area in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, was selected as one of the 53 national industrial tourism demonstration bases, according to a recent notice by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The scenic area is located in the eastern suburbs of Nandan county, spanning over 1,000 mu (66.7 hectares). It consists of the Danquan wine factory, a famous Maotai-flavor liquor production base in China, and a wine cave, or natural cellar, known as the Dongtian Jiuhai Scenic Spot.
The latter, located south of the Danquan wine factory, stores 60,000 metric tons of unprocessed wine. The temperature inside the cave is 16-17 C and the humidity ranges between 80 percent and 95 percent all year round. The wine is stored in special earthenware jars. There is also an abundance of spring water in the cave, serving as crucial raw material to make Danquan wine.
The Danquan Liquor Culture Scenic Area is a comprehensive tourism scenic spot that integrates an industrial food production base with cultural displays, and tourism and leisure activities while also helping to popularize science.
