Hechi sees bountiful late rice harvest hit 363,300 mu
The harvest of all 360,300 mu (24,220 hectares) of late rice in Hechi has been completed, according to Hechi's municipal bureau of agricultural and rural affairs.
To ensure all tasks related to grain production are fully completed, Hechi not only implemented a mechanism to guarantee farmers’ income from grain cultivation, but also arranged arable land protection subsidies and a minimum purchasing price policy as further incentives.
Up to now, Hechi has issued subsidies worth 413 million yuan ($58 million) for the protection of arable land and grain-planting policies, using 89.39 percent of its 462 million yuan in available subsidies.
At the same time, Hechi has set up a system of science and technology commissioners to carry out industrial support, strengthening the field management of late rice production, and organizing agricultural technicians to carry out agricultural production guidance services.
Hechi also promotes the application of agricultural mechanization. It has invested in 229,000 sets of agricultural machinery, completing a crop machine plowing area of 4,003,500 mu, a machine planting area of 879,000 mu, and a machine harvesting area of 1,236,000 mu. That includes a machine harvesting area of 349,600 mu for late rice, with a machine harvesting rate of over 97 percent.
