Du'an Yao Autonomous County recently welcomed a bumper harvest of downy grapes.
"This year's harvest is good. More than 300,000 yuan ($41,362) has been earned from more than 150 mu (10 hectares) of downy grapes, an increase of more than 200,000 yuan over last year," said Wei Kui, the person in charge of the Lawen Downy Grape Industry Demonstration Base in Guolong village, Daxing town, Du'an Yao autonomous county.
Since the establishment of the base in November 2016, the base has helped 32 households around it to increase their incomes, including eight households that have been lifted out of poverty.
In recent years, Du'an has made efforts to promote the vitalization and development of industries, focusing on the cattle, sheep, chicken, duck, pig, grape, and silkworm industries. It has also focused on increasing the village-level collective economic income. Villagers can use the collective economic income to improve the appearance of the village, reward outstanding students, help lift people out of poverty, and develop public welfare posts, so that the villagers can feel the industrial benefits brought by rural vitalization.
