On Sept 28, Hechi Station, the first newly built station building of the Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway, was capped. It will enter the interior decoration, as well as mechanical and electrical installation construction phases. The station is expected to complete construction by the end of March 2023.
Hechi Station is located in Dongjiang town, Jinchengjiang district, with a construction area of about 12,000 square meters. The station can accommodate up to 2,500 passengers at the same time.
The main body of the station is divided into three levels, reflecting the characteristics of the local Ganlan, or pile built, architecture. This design is being applied for the first time in the history of Guangxi railway station building design. The station building also integrates the local mountain landform, river valley, and other characteristics of the local natural scenery.
According to the station's interior design scheme, the central part of the waiting hall will be themed around the shape of the Bama Ming River, a famous scenic spot in Hechi. The column and beam will be decorated with bronze drums, which enriches the spatial effect and reflects local cultural elements at the same time.
The Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway is Guangxi's first high-speed railway with a design speed of 350 kilometers. In addition to Hechi Station, there are five stations that are under construction, Nanning North, Masan, Du'an, Yong'an, and Huanjiang, with the station engineering construction progress being close to 40 percent complete.
The entire line is expected to open at the end of 2023. By then, the travel time from Nanning to Guiyang will be shortened from the current five hours to about two hours.
