In recent years, Hechi's Tian'e county has built a modern ecological industry system based on its ecological advantages, propelling its high-quality economic and social development.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), the county plans to implement 10 wind power projects and nine small hydropower projects, with a total investment of more than 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion).

As of Aug 20, the Longtan Hydropower Station has been in continuous safe production for more than 5,500 days, producing 200.9 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 190 million metric tons.

In order to protect the environment, the county promoted the river chief system and forest chief system. In 2021, the green coverage rate of villages in the county reached 62.01 percent, ranking first in the region for two consecutive years.

In recent years, Tian'e county has developed the under-forest economy, as well as promoted the integrated development of the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries of forestry around under-forest planting, breeding, processing, and tourism. To date, the county has developed an under-forest economic area of 978,300 mu (65,220 hectares), with an output value of 638 million yuan, benefiting about 102,000 forest farmers.

In addition, the county has fully tapped into its unique natural scenery, ecological agriculture, folk culture, and other tourism resources to bolster the brand effect of being labeled "China's longevity town." It is continuing to strive to promote the integrated development of transportation, agriculture, culture, health care, industry, and tourism to accelerate the construction of its holistic tourism industry.
