Hechi strives to exceed $6.7b in forestry output by 2025
Hechi will seize the opportunities from the construction of Guangxi's modern forestry industry demonstration zone and the construction of Hechi's green development pilot zone, striving to promote the transformation of forest resource advantages into economic development advantages. The city will strive to exceed 45 billion yuan ($6.7 billion) in forestry output value by 2025.
In the first half of this year, the city's afforestation and greening work has been steadily advancing. As of June 10, the city has raised 124.64 million seedlings and planted 276,600 mu (18,440 hectares) of trees. It has planted 42,500 mu of camellia oleifera, with the total area of camellia oleifera reaching 1.83 million mu, ranking second in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
Starting from the second half of the year, the city will implement land greening works and strive to complete afforestation of more than 800,000 mu by 2025. It will implement forest quality improvement projects and strive to complete more than 900,000 mu of high-quality commercial forests by 2025. The city will also speed up the construction of a protected area management system. By 2025, the city aims to have at least 3.87 million mu in natural protected areas and 710,000 mu.
In addition, Hechi will strive to complete the planting of over 50,000 mu in camellia oleifera within the year. The city will also focus on developing core demonstration zones covering camellia oleifera, chestnut, flowers, and forest tourism. It will also cultivate the flower industry, and strive to achieve an output value of more than 1 billion yuan by 2025.
