Bunuyao celebrates Zhuzhu Festival in Dahua

Hechi's Dahua Yao autonomous county held a celebration of the 2022 Zhuzhu Festival on June 23. A variety of activities showcased the local Bunuyao's folk culture and customs, attracting tourists from all over the world to participate in the experience.
The Zhuzhu Festival is the most important traditional festival for the Bunuyao ethnic group, a branch of the Yao ethnic group living in Du'an, Dahua, and Bama counties of Hechi.
On that day, local people dressed in traditional clothing and performed original ecological folk songs and dances in Daomou town. There were also traditional sports competitions, such as crossbow shooting, spinning tops, and three-person skateboarding competitions.
Yao people prepared delicious wine, delicacies, and five-color glutinous rice, as well as set up a long table banquet to welcome tourists. Zhuang and Yao's banquet has 58 sets of dishes, 88 varieties, and 188 dishes, including 12 categories of side dishes, soups, cold dishes, large dishes, hot dishes, as well as snacks, showing the characteristics of the local food culture.
Through this event, Dahua promoted its traditional culture, bolstered ethnic unity and progress, as well as accelerated the construction of Guangxi's holistic tourism demonstration area.
