Shenzhen's Baoan boosts Dahua's rural vitalization
Dahua Yao autonomous county is a paired assistance area of Shenzhen's Bao'an district. Since 2016, Bao'an has invested 586 million yuan ($87 million) in assistance funds and implemented 941 projects to boost Dahua's rural vitalization in terms of industrial development, safe drinking water, and employment assistance.
Bao'an and Dahua have deepened industrial cooperation, attracted major industries and accelerated the construction of industrial parks. Dahua has issued the Guangdong-Guangxi cooperation preferential policy, while Bao'an has introduced subsidy measures to support the development of Dahua's industries.
Baoan-Dahua Cooperation Industrial Park's enterprises such as Guangxi Dahua Mingshun Protective Products, Guangxi Hangu Electronic Technology, and Guangxi Ruixing Garment have provided nearly 1,000 jobs to locals.
The people of Qibailong township living deep inside the mountainous area in Dahua have been plagued by water shortages for hundreds of years. In November 2021, the Wanglie Reservoir, which was backed and constructed by the Guangdong-Guangxi poverty alleviation cooperation fund has a total storage capacity of 377,000 cubic meters. It is operating now and benefits more than 8,000 people.
In the past five years, Shenzhen has invested 71 million yuan to build 1,853 household water tanks, 87 centralized water supplies, the Wanglie Reservoir and 85 kilometers of pipeline network projects in Dahua, upgrading the drinking water quality in remote mountainous areas.
