Nandan community fuels poverty-alleviation relocation services
Located in Yaozhai village, Baxu Yao township, Nandan county, Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Tuanjie community has transformed into a thriving community service people relocated as part of poverty alleviation efforts.
The community covers an area of 130 mu (8.7 hectares), and has built 49 resettlement houses for people from seven surrounding villages.
Seven years ago, the land of the community was barren field. At that time, the people of Yao ethnic group in the township were suffering from deep poverty and faced long-term problems like a lack of stable housing, poor land, inconvenient transportation services, and lack of drinking water access.
As part of its poverty alleviation efforts to help the Yao people, Nandan county invested funds to build two relocation zones in 2017, namely Tuanjie community and Lajie community. In November 2017, 221 households with 1,363 people relocated to Tuanjie community.
Numerous welfare policies have improved the quality of life for the relocated people in the Tuanjie community. For example, the local government has carried out civilization, environmental protection, laws and regulations, as well as publicity activities to guide them to form good living habits. In order to meet some of the living needs of the relocated residents, the township government has provided funds for transforming housing functions and building production houses.
