Huanjiang strives to build economic powerhouse

Hechi's Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county has made efforts to build a county with a strong economy, transportation network, as well as education and medical facilities in recent years. 

In order to solve the employment problems of relocated people, the county connected with enterprises to create assistance workshops. To date, 52 assistance workshops have been established, offering 4,218 jobs. In addition, a number of high-quality enterprises like Guangxi Huawei Technology and Guangxi Karst Fruit Industry have established factories in Huanjiang, directly creating more than 10,000 new jobs.

The Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway plans to establish a station in Huanjiang. After its completion, Huanjiang residents can reach Nanning and Guiyang in one hour by high-speed rail, as well as to major domestic cities within 10 hours. The Huanjiang section of the Hechi-Libo Expressway is the first expressway in the county, which has greatly reduced the distance from Liuzhou, Hechi, and Laibin in Guangxi to Guizhou, added a new direct channel between Guangxi and Guizhou, as well as brought development opportunities for Huanjiang.

The county has bolstered its education facilities. In 2020, it invested 270 million yuan ($40 million) in the construction and repair of 58 compulsory education schools. In 2021, Huanjiang university for the elderly hired senior teachers to offer seven subjects, including folk songs and calligraphy. In the next two years, the county plans to build and expand six kindergartens in townships and urban areas, as well as promote the construction of standardization projects for schools carrying out compulsory education.

The county has also developed traditional Chinese medicine and ethnic group medicine industries. It has also built a traditional Chinese medicine hospital to meet the growing and diverse medical needs of the public. In addition, it accelerated the overall relocation of the People's Hospital of Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county, increased the number of its beds to 600, and improved its medical services. It has also strengthened the management of private hospitals and built characteristic brands of private hospitals.
