Overseas Chinese invests in Bama beef ranch project

According to the Guangxi Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce, the Bama wagyu ecological ranch project invested in by an overseas Chinese businessman named Liu Jiakui started construction on April 29 in Bama Yao autonomous county, Hechi. 

Liu, vice president of the Guangxi Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce and chairman of Guangxi Diaogu Agricultural Group, noted that the total planned investment in the project is about 136 million yuan ($20 million), covering an area of about 230 mu (15.3 hectares), including 18 cowsheds, a forage production area, an organic fertilizer production area, an exhibition training center, as well as a healthcare and leisure center.

"The ecological ranch project will rely on the industrial cluster of Wagyu and Angus cattle in Bama, Yizhou district, and Laibin county. It will carry out intensive fattening, slaughtering, segmentation, and deep processing, forming a high value-added beef industrial chain," Liu said.

Shang Jintuan, director of the Bama agriculture and rural affairs bureau, said that the beef cattle breeding project built by Liu in Bana village, Xishan township, Bama Yao autonomous county has made positive contributions to local economic development and rural vitalization efforts.

Liu said that the project will strive to achieve the goal of producing 10,000 beef cattle per year, planting 10,000 mu in pasture, and 10,000 mu in organic green agricultural products within five years, helping 2,000 farmers increase their annual income by 10,000 yuan. It is expected that the project will generate an annual output value of 500 million yuan.
