Hechi Track-Laying Base of the Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway completed construction and was put into use on March 7. As of April 25, the base has received 15 locomotive trains transporting steel rail tracks to the site, with the total mileage of rail tracks reaching 187.5 kilometers.

Hechi Track-Laying Base is located in Dongjiang town, Hechi’s Jinchengjiang district, covering an area of 44,000 square meters. It is responsible for the storage, transportation, and laying of 590 km of rail tracks along the railway.

According to Wang Baojun, the project leader, each rail track is 500 meters long and weighs 30 metric tons. In order to ensure smooth loading and unloading, they carried out the intelligent transformation of gantry cranes, generating good results.

"In the past, it took 15 workers nine hours to complete the work. Now, through the intelligent transformation of equipment, not only has the manpower been reduced by half, but the construction efficiency has also increased by 60 percent,” said Zhang Lei, chief engineer of the project.

The Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway has a design speed of 350 km per hour, and is an important part of the Baotou-Haikou High-speed Railway. To date, the railway has completed more than 90 percent of the total design of the subgrade earthwork, bridges, and tunnels. It is expected to open in 2023.
