Hechi's Luocheng Mulam autonomous county is promoting the large-scale and modernized development of agriculture, a process it has been following in recent years.

To date, the county has completed the establishment of 277,200 mu (18,480 hectares) of high-standard farmland.

Through field leveling, the building of irrigation channels and road network reconstruction, the county has changed low and medium-yield fields into premium and contiguous fields for cultivation.

Since 2020, the county has integrated 68 million yuan ($11 million) in various funds for farmland development, completed the construction of 52 agricultural infrastructure projects and built 68,000 meters of irrigation and drainage channels. What's more, it has built 62 kilometers of industrial roads, repaired four irrigation dams, as well as built two irrigation systems and a raft of other support facilities.

On completion, the farmland's irrigation and drainage capacity is reported to have been enhanced, the road accessibility rate has reached more than 90 percent and the grain production capacity has  increased by 40 kilograms per mu of arable land.

The county has also combined the establishment of first-class farmland with the development of characteristic agriculture, leisure agriculture and rural tourism, to optimize the land's utilization. For example, it developed the Luocheng Mulam Daoxiang Pastoral Complex in Shuangmeng village, in Xiaochang'an town.

Based on selenium-enriched rice cultivation, it diligently developed rural tourism and gradually formed a complete industry supply chain.
