Hechi retiree obtains invention patent for ice & snow sports
Li Jiming, a retired employee of Hechi Daily's printing factory, recently obtained an invention patent for ice and snow sports.
"My patent is for 'a skating and roller skating aid device,' which can effectively reduce the risk of falling injuries during ice and snow sports," Li said, adding that the skating aid device is easy to adjust and suitable for different groups of people.
The idea for the invention originated from an accidental injury. In the winter of 2017, he fractured his wrist while skating in Beijing. Afterward, he wanted to invent a protective device to reduce the risk of falls while skating.
Through Li's perseverance, he revised the design plan many times before eventually creating a prototype that received an invention patent certificate issued by the State Intellectual Property Office at the end of December last year.
Li said that he was very proud that his invention can be used in various sports, such as skating, roller skating, and skateboarding, at a low cost. He added, "I didn't think about profiting from my inventions. I just tried my best to express my support for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and ice and snow sports."
