Bama promotes high-quality economic, social development in 2021
Hechi's Bama Yao autonomous county has consolidated poverty eradication achievements, expanded rural revitalization and vigorously propelled the construction of major projects and the county's overall economic and social development in 2021, achieving a good start during the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25).
In 2021, Bama's gross domestic product increased by 9 percent, and fiscal revenue increased by 12.51 percent. Specifically, Bama promoted 124 major projects with a total investment of 7.1 billion yuan ($1.12 billion) and seven newly signed projects with 2.48 billion yuan of capital, completing 120.87 percent of the county's planned goal.
Bama ranked on the list of "2021 China's top 100 counties and cities for recreation," and achieved a total social tourism consumption of 8.09 billion yuan, an increase of 21.4 percent year on year.
Furthermore, Bama received the national "clear waters and green mountains as good as mountains of gold and silver" practice innovation base title. Two of its traditional customs, namely the Yao ethnic group's Zhuzhu Festival and Zhuang ethnic group's ceremonial custom of respecting the elderly were selected as the fifth batch of national intangible cultural heritage representative projects.
The county has strengthened employment security, providing more than 4,500 jobs, employing 39,410 people and creating 1,726 rural public welfare jobs. It has also fully disbursed more than 30 million yuan in living allowances to students in compulsory education, benefiting more than 50,000 students.
