In recent years, Nandan county's vegetable industry has continued to develop. The county is expected to produce 274,300 metric tons of vegetables this year, up 8.66 percent year on year, with an output value of over 1 billion yuan ($156.79 million).

Nandan has made the most of its resource advantages and actively built large vegetable planting bases in 2021. It has established eight demonstration bases for efficient vegetable cultivation and consolidated 500 mu of (33.3 hectares) perennial vegetable production bases, and its off-seasonal vegetable output value has achieved 5.8 million yuan.

According to market orientation, Nandan has optimized its planting structure by screening excellent varieties and used its climate advantages to boost the development of its summer and autumn vegetable industries. The county has introduced 13 new varieties this year with a total summer and autumn tomato and cabbage planting area of 5,873 mu and an output value of 235 million yuan.

The county has given full play to the technical advantages of the agricultural and rural sectors, building eight demonstration gardens for high-yield vegetable cultivation and one demonstration garden for greenhouse tomato cultivation this year.

Additionally, Nandan has facilitated the connection of production and marketing to ensure smooth transactions and meet market demands. This year it has introduced the Gui Mengmeng Company to establish a 1,000-mu vegetable base to effectively promote the development of Nandan's vegetable industry.
