Hechi holds conference to discuss silk industry's high-quality development

On Dec 10, the first China Silk Industry High-quality Development Conference and Hechi Silk Industry Investment Summit were held in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

The conference conducted discussions and exchanges that focused on four themes: "Development Trend of Silk Industry," "Application of Sericulture Biotechnology," "Cultivation of the Whole Silk Industry Chain," and "New Concept of Silk Brand Development." It also paid close attention to the analysis of China's silk industry development trend.

Based on its resource advantages, Hechi has promoted the development of the silk industry to utilize the entire industrial chain as well as utilize silk industry clusters. With Yizhou serving as the core area, Hechi has been promoting the construction of a silkworm breeding base and a cocoon and silk deep-processing park to create a national "China Silk New Capital." The city's silkworm scale has ranked first among China's cities for 16 consecutive years, and its cocoon silk processing capacity has led the country.

In September of this year, the "Guiding Opinions on the Development of the Cocoon and Silk Industry during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25)," which was issued by the Ministry of Commerce, pointed out that the country will build a number of high-quality cocoon and silk production bases and industrial clusters, construct a number of national science and technology innovation platforms and enterprise technology centers, and cultivate a group of well-known domestic silk brands with an international influence in order to further promote the sustainable development of the world's silk industry.

During the summit, the people's government of Yizhou district signed cooperation projects with 20 companies that intend to settle in Yizhou Textile City. It also hired six experts and consultants for the high-quality development of cocoon and silk in Yizhou district.
