Hechi's agri product processing industry develops rapidly
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), the city of Hechi vigorously developed a poverty alleviation industry project. The total number and varieties of agricultural products have increased significantly.
According to incomplete statistics, there are now 504 agricultural product processing enterprises in the city. Among them, 353 are wood processing companies, 32 are oil tea processing companies, 30 are fruit and vegetable processing companies, 25 are cocoon silk processing companies, 11 are wine processing companies, and 10 are livestock and poultry processing companies.
In 2020, the main business income of agricultural product processing was 8.9 billion yuan ($1.4 billion), and the main business income in the first half of 2021 was 4.6 billion yuan.
The rapid development of the processing industry of agricultural products has helped local people increase incomes. In Yizhou district, 20 cocoon and silk processing enterprises mobilized 92,400 households with 456,000 people to grow mulberry and raise silkworms, with an annual output of 60,000 metric tons of fresh cocoons and an output value of 3 billion yuan.
In terms of agricultural product marketing, the city further deepened Guangdong-Guangxi poverty alleviation cooperation. With the help of developed areas, agricultural product marketing channels have been broadened and the reputation of agricultural products has been improved. In 2020, the total value of various agricultural products in Hechi sold to Guangdong province reached about 73 million yuan.
