Construction is nearly complete on the Guilin-Liuchen Expressway and it will open to traffic soon. The expressway is an important part of the Guilin-Hechi Expressway and is the second route between Guilin and Liuzhou and Nanning in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

The expressway starts from Guilin's Sitang town and connects with the Quanzhou-Nanning Expressway. After entering Liuzhou, it connects with the Sanjiang-Liuzhou Expressway near Xitang village, Tantou town.

The main line has a total length of 95.7 kilometers and is a two-way four-lane road with a designed speed of 100 km per hour. It received a total of 12.9 billion yuan ($2 billion) in investment. There are seven interchanges, two service areas, five toll stations and a parking area on the expressway.

After the expressway is completed, it will be connected to the already completed Nanning-Liuzhou Expressway, which will become a new high-speed route between Guilin and Nanning, alleviating congestion on the Liuzhou-Nanning Expressway. Meanwhile, the distance between Hechi, Liuchen county in Liuzhou and Guilin will be significantly shortened.

Moreover, the new expressway will improve Guangxi's expressway network and promote the development of its logistics industries. It will also help increase interconnection between the Pan-Pearl River Delta, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Guangxi.
