Policy and fund support given to 2 key rural tourism villages in Hechi

On Nov 6, the Culture and Tourism Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Development and Reform Commission of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region jointly issued the list of key rural tourism villages and towns in Guangxi in 2021. 

A total of nine towns and 48 villages were selected. Among them, two villages in Hechi were selected, namely Dahua Yao autonomous county's Nongteng village, and Bama Yao autonomous county's Baima Village.

After being selected, local government will strengthen support for key villages and towns in terms of policies, funds, markets, and talents, and help promote the rural revitalization strategy.

Nongteng village is an "autonomous region-level ecological village". Its walnut and grape industries, farmhouses and rural hotels attract many tourists.

Baima village is located on the banks of the beautiful Panyang River. In order to develop rural tourism, the village has introduced companies to manage farm hotels. The per capita annual income of villagers has reached 25,000 yuan, more than 10 times higher than in 2005.

Rural tourism is an indispensable part of Guangxi's tourism industry. In the first three quarters of 2021, the region's rural tourist attraction brought in about 322 million tourists, accounting for 48.1 percent of the total number of tourists received in the region. Rural tourism consumption was about 231.3 billion yuan ($36.1 billion), accounting for 29.9 percent of the region's total tourism consumption.

This selection is of great significance for Guangxi in its efforts to build a group of high-quality classic rural tourism scenic spots and tourism routes, as well as promote the high-quality development of rural tourism in the region as a whole.
