Grain production capacity in Hechi steadily increases
According to the Hechi municipal bureau of agriculture and rural affairs, as of Sept 30, the city of Hechi has planted 3,796,100 mu (273,013 hectares) of grain crops. In the first three quarters of this year, the city's grain output is expected to increase by 1.85 percent year-on-year to 501,200 metric tons.
Since the beginning of this year, the city has distributed various subsidies in a timely manner to increase enthusiasm among farmers for growing grain. In the first three quarters, 27.15 million yuan ($4.25 million) worth of the city's arable land subsidy funds has been distributed, steadily increasing grain production capacity.
In order to improve the city's grain production quality, Hechi stepped up the promotion of good varieties and methods, increased the construction of farmland facilities, and strengthened quality monitoring of cultivated land. The city developed 251,300 mu of high-standard farmland in 2020, exceeding its target of 251,000 mu.
The city has also actively promoted digital agriculture and used remote sensing "3S" technology to survey and verify food production areas, becoming the first city to realize visualized online query of the spatial distribution of grain crops in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
In addition, the city carried out work related to flood prevention, disaster relief and agricultural production guidance in order to ensure the increase of grain production.
