Technological innovation boosts Hechi's industrial development

Since the beginning of the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20), scientific and technological innovation has continuously promoted the Hechi's industrial development. 

Over the years, Hechi has made breakthroughs in key industries' technology research, optimized the technological innovation environment, and helped enterprises with innovation transformation.

In 2019, the city released an implementation plan for supporting technological innovation to lead industrial development to the mid-to-high end of the value chain. Under the plan, non-ferrous metals and other traditional industries have been upgraded, and wine and other emerging industries have accelerated their development.

During the past five years, the city's regional GDP has increased from 62.24 billion yuan ($9.7 billion) to 92.77 billion yuan at an average annual growth rate of 6 percent.

The city has promoted the transformation of 83 major technological achievements, and completed 127.7 percent of the main indicators of technological innovation in the 13th Five-Year Plan.

In addition, the city's high-tech enterprises have generally carried out scientific research activities, and the investment in enterprise research and development has continued to increase. A batch of scientific and technological achievements have been produced and 19 technical awards have been obtained.

There are 55 technological innovation platform carriers including the enterprise technology center and the engineering research center, and seven of the carriers are national-level platforms and 48 are autonomous region-level platforms.
