In the autumn, Hechi farmers are filled with the joy of harvesting. The city's counties and districts have carried out various activities to celebrate the fourth Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival that took place on Sept 23.

Starting in 2018, the festival coincides with the Autumnal Equinox each year and is mainly celebrated with performances and farming contests.

In Nandan county's Duonu community, people rang bronze drums, sang joyous songs, and celebrated the festival with tourists from all over the country. In Jinchengjiang district, colorful activities provided a stage for farmers to show themselves.

In order to ensure a bumper harvest, the city has implemented a responsibility system for food security this year. Meanwhile, the city has promoted high-standard farmland construction, used "3S" technology (remote sensing technology, geographic information system and global positioning system) to carry out the investigation and verification of the grain production area.

In addition, the city has accelerated the construction of fruit industry bases, and promoted the development of the standardization, scale and specialization of the fruit industry. The city has carried out agricultural product sales promotion activities to unblock 200,000 metric tons of fruit sales channels. In the first half of this year, the city's fruit output was 118,100 tons, a year-on-year increase of 41.9 percent.
