The Duonu community in Hechi's Nandan county was successfully selected as one of the third batch of national rural tourism key villages, which was jointly released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the National Development and Reform Commission on Aug 2.

According to the results, 199 villages among the county are planned to be selected as the third batch of national key rural tourism villages, and 100 towns are planned to be selected as the first batch of national key rural tourism towns. There are 10 villages and towns in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region that have been selected for rural tourism.

The Duonu community is one of the resettlement sites for the Yao people's poverty alleviation and tourism development projects, which was implemented during the "13th Five-Year Plan" (2016-20) period in Nandan county. Situated in a mountainous region, it covers an area of about 1,200 mu (80 hectares), and a total of 332 rows of buildings have been built here. There are 1,124 households with 5,926 immigrants, consisting of seven ethnic groups including the Yao, Zhuang, Han, Miao, Bouyei, Sui, and Maonan, among which the Baikuyao population accounts for 94.7 percent, making it a veritable Yao village.

The Duonu community was named the third batch of Chinese Minority Characteristic Villages in 2019, and won the honor of National Beautiful Relocation Area for Poverty Alleviation and Relocation in 2020.
