Since the beginning of this year, Hechi's Luocheng Mulam autonomous county has continued to consolidate and expand poverty alleviation, and promote the effective connection between poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.

The county plans to invest 30 million yuan ($4.63 million) this year to mobilize developing industries. In the first half of this year, 38,100 mu (2,540 hectares) of sugar cane and 5,800 mu of camellia oil were newly planted in the county.

Through employment assistance measures, such as helping migrant workers,  boosting employment in local enterprises, supporting independent entrepreneurship, developing public welfare job placement, and organizing participation in skills training, 55,600 workers in the county have been lifted out of poverty, a year-on-year increase of 2.5 percent.

The county focuses on monitoring the key indicators of compulsory education, basic medical care, housing safety and safe drinking water. Luocheng has strengthened its monitoring to ensure that children do not drop out of school due to poverty, and has distributed 17.98 million yuan in educational grants in the spring semester of 2021, which benefited 32,300 students.

In addition, the county has strengthened its public medical insurance policy. The county's medical insurance rate has reached 100 percent at present, effectively reducing the burden of medical treatment for poverty-stricken households. There are 58 dilapidated houses that have been renovated and 29 safe drinking water projects have been built.

Through data comparison, the county discovers, monitors and assists people in poverty. Up to now, 287 households consisting of 984 people were monitored, including 173 households with 578 people from unstable poverty-stricken households, 79 households with 278 people from marginal poverty-prone households, and 35 households with 128 people having sudden difficulties. Luocheng will implement targeted assistance policies to these households.
