An event marking the 2021 Zhuzhu Festival, celebrated by the Bunuyao ethnic group, kicked off in Hechi's Du'an Yao autonomous county on July 6.

Bunuyao people gathered at Miluotuo Cultural Park to celebrate the festival. They held ceremonies to worship their ancestors, put on folk performances, created traditional clothing displays and staged traditional sports competitions. They also offered the chance to taste local foods and display special agricultural products.

Du'an is a main settlement area of the Bunuyao people and the main site of Miluotuo culture. Zhuzhu Festival is held to commemorate the mother of the Bunuyao ethnic group - Miluotuo. The festival takes place on the 29th day of the fifth lunar month every year, and now it has become the most important festival in terms of showing off the traditional culture of the Bunuyao.

Traditional sports such as cockfighting, bird-fighting, playing gyro, throwing an embroidered ball and tug-of-war have attracted thousands of tourists to watch and participate.

Specialty agricultural products such as wine, lotus root vermicelli, black beans, black rice, camellia oil, beef, mutton, and honey were displayed and sold at the scene.
