The Chinese Society of Sericultural Science (CSSS) on May 21 established the Yizhou Sericulture Industry Research Institute in Yizhou district of Hechi - known as the“hometown of Chinese sericulture".

The institute will carry out activities such as academic exchanges, achievement transformation, technical training, a consultancy and information dissemination and publicity in response to Yizhou's silk farming conditions and situation. It will also push forward with the promotion and application of new technologies in the silk farming industry, to help with the development of the sericulture sector in Yizhou.

Meanwhile, a Yizhou silkworm big data and cloud computing platform - effectively, an intelligent silkworm breeding system - has also started operations.

Relying on its expert staff and technical knowledge, the platform will conduct remote supervision and precise control of the silkworm breeding environment.

By utilizing the system, it is hoped that any breeding problems will soon be resolved and the standardization of the silkworm breeding process will be realized.

Furthermore, it is expected that it will improve the overall efficiency of silk cultivation and increase the incomes of farmers.
